Winter weaves
a whitened web
over the frosted forest,
leaving echoes
of a frozen grasp
that lulls furry wanderers
to the sweet confines
of a midwinter nap.

Into their dens
they climb with planned footfalls
that traverse jutting rock,
nestled in a bed of leaves
as snow wraps trees
in echoes of a chilled
lullaby of wailing winds
and downy flake
